HI Lemon Law Summary

In order to protect consumers from defective lemon cars this state has put in place the following lemon law.

Hawaii Lemon Law covers vehicles designed for transportation of people over public roads and is used primarily for personal use. Motorcycles/mopeds or motor vehicles over 10,000 pounds are not covered. The lemon law coverage period is 2 years, the warranty period, or 24,000 miles. Only 1 repair attempt is needed if the defect may cause death or serious injury, otherwise it is 3 attempts or the vehicle must be out of service for 30 calendar days.
